Recently I was thinking to myself: "Wouldn't it be great if something like Google Earth existed, but for temporal, instead of spatial, information?" Well, turns out that such a thing already exists and it's called Timeline. A related project called Exhibit allows you to easily create your own timelines (and maps). Timeplot also looks interesting.
